It’s the law
Every jurisdiction in North America requires you – as the owner of your vehicle – to insure it for your liability against personal injury to a third party or damage to their vehicle or other property. In Alberta, the minimum liability limit is $200,000.
It’s for peace of mind
A serious collision, however, could result in an injury lawsuit that can easily exceed that amount, which is why most people carry at least a $1 million limit. At Milestone, we actually recommend a limit of $2 million to all of our clients. In addition; you may also want to consider purchasing an umbrella liability policy for added protection.
It’s your choice
Besides Third Party Liability, you’ll likely also want to insure your vehicle for its own damages in the event of a collision, vandalism, heavy wind or hail – or if somebody steals it.
