How to Make a Claim
Break-ins, floods, fire and vandalism are just a few of the types of incidents that may cause you to make a claim on your personal homeowners insurance.
Here are the steps we recommend you take:
- Before you begin the claims process try to minimize further damage–safely.
- Do you suspect that a crime has been committed? Call your local police and follow their instructions. In Edmonton, dial (780) 423-4567 for non-emergency calls or 911 in an emergency.
- Please then call us at 1-888-669-4942 during our regular office hours, or if the incident occurred after business hours and you need our assistance, please dial (780) 221-8117.
For Aviva policyholders, including Dolce Vita and Aviva Elite customers, you may also call their 24-hour emergency number: 1 866 MY AVIVA (1-866-692-8482)
How the Claims Process Works
What to Expect:
- Within one business day of reporting the claim to us, a Claims Representative from your insurance company will contact you.
- In some cases, a Field Representative will also be dispatched to review the incident with you and examine the situation.
- The Claims Representative will review your policy and the damage or loss to confirm the coverage you can expect.
- Following this review the Claims Representative will forward instructions and documents to you, called Proof of Loss forms.
- You will need to complete the forms and provide proof of the damage or loss and return the forms to the Claims Representative.
- When the documents have been completed a final settlement decision will be made.
