Boats
Watercraft insurance is in many ways similar to automobile insurance. It can protect you against your liability for personal injury or damage to other’s property as well as pay for direct physical damage to your boat.
Let us help you choose the coverage that is right for you.
Whether you add coverage under your homeowner’s policy, or purchase a separate policy from one of our Insurer partners, Milestone provides boaters with complete coverage specially designed for your boat or personal watercraft - you can relax on the water knowing you have the protection you need.
Motorcycles / Snowmobiles / All Terrain Vehicles
Like your car or truck, most types of recreational vehicles can be covered under a standard automobile policy (S.P.F. No. 1). Coverages are similar, as is the information you will need to provide us in order to obtain a quotation and bind the policy, but there a few differences:
- Snowmobiles and ATV’s are generally not licensed for use on public roads, and therefore they may not require a license to operate. Insurers will require details about their use by underage operators.
- They may also be used in higher risk environments e.g. in water or on ice. Read your policy careful – including all endorsements – there are probably limitations as to where your machine will and will not be insured.
- The premiums to insure recreational vehicles, although written on an annual basis, contemplate the vehicles’ seasonal use. That means if you cancel the insurance on your snowmobile in May, for instance, you will not receive a full refund for the months of June to September.
How can you keep insurance rates low?
Several factors will affect your insurance rates. You can't control all of the factors that apply to you, but there are a few things you can do:
- Get the proper training – from a qualified professional. The more you know and the more you practice in every kind of situations, the better operator you will be.
- Ride carefully. If you have violations on your driving record or claims on your policy, your rates will be higher.
- Choose your unit carefully. Machines with higher displacement, or those that are considered more aggressive, typically cost more to insure based on the history of claims for those vehicles.
